Indian festival of lights – Diwali 2024
OCT 26 – AMERICA/EUROPE – DELHI
Upon arrival at Delhi airport, you will be greeted by a representative of Viajes Ver La India. He will take you to the hotel in a private car. Check-in and hotel accommodation.
OCT 27 – DELHI
Breakfast. We will visit the Lotus Temple, and the Sikh Temple – Gurudwara. In the afternoon, excursion to the Akshardham temple in Delhi, it is a complex made of pink stone and white marble. It is decorated with 234 columns carved in stone, it has more than 20,000 sculptures and statues of divinities. Around 6:00 p.m., we will visit the Festival of Lights fair/market organized on these dates. Dinner and accommodation.
OCT 28- DELHI – JAIPUR
Breakfast. Departure by road to Jaipur, the “Pink City” where the emblematic façade of the Palace of the Winds is located. Arrival and check-in at the hotel. In the afternoon, photo stop at the Albert Hall Palace and the Birla Temple where the guide will tell us about this festival and we will visit the local market to see the Diwali lighting. Dinner and accommodation.
OCT 29 – JAIPUR – Amer – JAIPUR
Breakfast. We will visit Amber, which from the road gives us a spectacular image. We went up to her fortified palace on an elephant. We will make a photo stop at the Palacio de Viento y del Lago. On our way back to Jaipur we will visit the Maharaja’s Palace and its museums. We will also be surprised by the colossal instruments of the Jai Singh Observatory. Around 6:00 p.m., we will go to the city palace to see the religious ceremony of the festival of lights – Diwali. Dinner and accommodation.
OCT 30 – JAIPUR – Abhaneri – Fatehpur Sikri – AGRA
Breakfast. Departure in the morning to Agra, visiting en route the Abhaneri stepwell and the ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri, imperial capital paralyzed in time. It was the last city built by Akbar and abandoned apparently due to lack of water. We continue towards Agra, a city that alternated with Delhi as the capital of the Mughal Empire. Dinner and accommodation in hotel.
OCT 31 – IN AGRA
Breakfast. Visit of the Taj Mahal, which with unsurpassed architectural perfection captivates those who contemplate it. Next, we will visit the Red Fort of Agra, on the banks of the Yamuna River, in the heart of the city. It reflects Indian architecture under three Mughal emperors: Akbar, Jehangir and Shah Jahan. Next, we will visit Akbar’s church. Dinner and accommodation.
NOV 1 – AGRA – Jhansi – Orcha – KHAJURAHO
Breakfast. Depart by Shatabdi Express train to Jhansi and continue by road to Orcha, visit the Raj Mahal Palace. After lunch, continue by road to Khajuraho, where the most exquisite temples in India are located, built between the 10th and 11th centuries by the Chandela kings. Dinner in hotel.
NOV 2 – KHAJURAHO – VARANASI
Breakfast. In the morning we will visit some of the 22 temples or nagaras that still remain. Although they present very diverse motifs, the best-known figures are the so-called “mithuna” that stand on high platforms. Then departure by plane to Benares, the city of the “Thousand Stairs” and also the most sacred in India. In the afternoon, we will go to the bank of the Ganges River to watch the afternoon “Aarti” ceremony. Dinner in hotel.
NOV 3 – VARANASI – Sarnath – VARANASI
At dawn we will take a boat trip along the Ganges, where we will see the faithful along the ghats, purifying themselves and making their offerings. Next we will take a walk through the labyrinth of alleys of the city, where the streets are a stage of life. Return to the hotel and breakfast. Next, we will visit the Buddha village, Sarnath. Here the Buddha gave his first sermon, you visit the archaeological area, museum and garden.
Dinner and accommodation in hotel.
NOV 4 – VARANASI – DELHI – EUROPE/AMERICA
Breakfast. At midday transfer to Varanasi airport to take the flight to Delhi.
Upon arrival at Delhi airport, you will be in transit to take the flight to your next destination.
